Roddy Tree Ranch- A wedding destination on the banks of the Guadalupe River

Imagine an exceptional and unique wedding.
Roddy Tree Ranch offers a peaceful and casual outdoor setting for weddings on the banks of the Guadalupe River, by the Tall Cypress Trees. The simple beauty of a heart shaped Arch decorated with flowers and Ivy is matched only by the spectacular background of the hills behind the lush riverbed.

Following the service, as you stay in that special moment, your guests can walk or be escorted up the hill to the reception. Imagine a really memorable reception following the service at our outdoor pavilion. The pavilion is decorated with rustic elegance and simplicity. White star twinkle lights, grapevine and tulle draped around the cedar poles and cascading from the ceiling creates a dramatic and stunning effect against the star filled night sky. Picture all of your family and friends together in one place, relaxed and happy and ready to celebrate!

What could be better than gathering all of your family and guests in the heart of the Texas Hill Country for your special day?

We are able to offer various wedding packages starting at $8500 that include all the amenities of the Ranch and our special brand of personal service to you both.

Planning your own unique and elegant Wedding at Roddy Tree Ranch Top of page
We love having weddings here at the Ranch. It is the most incredible feeling in the world to watch two people who love each other exchange vows here. We have been humbled by the beauty and simplicity of the ceremonies as well as the spiritual love that guides the bride and groom. There is something special about weddings here. Couples that have married here come back year after year to rekindle the special bond they experienced that day and they are always welcomed as a part of our family. Roddy Tree Ranch is truly a unique bonding and spiritual experience for couples as well as their families. It is truly amazing. Here are some tips we would like to share with our couples on planning a truly unique and personal ceremony and reception here at the Ranch.

Contrary to what they say in the magazines you don't have to spend a fortune to have a wonderful, memorable wedding. The couples who have said their vows here at Roddy Tree Ranch know that means focusing on and prioritizing what you want to achieve. Fortunately, that same focus will help spend your dollars wisely! You can look at all the planning guidelines and timelines in magazines and on websites for ideas of things you might do, but don't get boxed in by them-- real weddings come together in a much different way than magazines and many experts suggest.

First of all you and your fiancé need to sit down and really talk and brainstorm about what you want MOST for the wedding-family and friends whom you want to share this with, great photography, what kind of gown and accessories. It is a good idea to start making notes of what you really want and what you can live without. Compare your ideas, and compromise when necessary, to come up with a wedding you'll both love. Remember the wedding is only one of the first steps in your long and joyful life together. Planning your wedding should be fun and a reflection of the love and respect you have for each other.

When you have an idea of what's most important to you, you can start finding out what those things will cost. Call around, ask around, make notes, and then add things up. Then when you have an idea of what you'll do, start with the most important priorities FIRST, so you make sure you can afford them. Then you can compromise on, or even omit, some of the less important things as your budget gets stretched. We have helped many couples here at the Ranch have the wedding of their dreams for a reasonable price.

Do you have a time set for the wedding? If you don't want to spend a lot on refreshments, plan the wedding and reception at a time other than mealtime. This is tricky because the length of time a wedding and reception takes, but you can work with it a little.

Usually, for instance, it's tough to have a morning wedding early enough to avoid feeding guests lunch. Even a very short ceremony and reception that starts at 10 am is going to run into "brunch" or "lunchtime. In the evening, you can work it the same way, if you wish. Any ceremony after about 6:30 or 7:00 pm would be "after dinner so you could plan to only serve light fare and dessert rather than a sit down dinner.

Make some things for the wedding yourself if you have creative talents and energy. I encourage couples and families to arrange flowers, decorate the pavilion, make the wedding cake-- whatever they are good at. It's often more meaningful to have had a hand in the preparations personally and it brings families together. Many family and friends really enjoy helping out with wedding preparations so don't be afraid to ask! We are also happy to refer you to caterers, bakers, photographers and others that we have worked with personally, usually at a lower cost than what a big city wedding planner would charge. At Roddy Tree Ranch we are committed to helping you in any way we can to make sure you have the individual and unique wedding that you envision.

Most of your bills will come due right before the wedding. Usually you pay 1/2 up-front for services, and then the last couple weeks before the wedding, everyone wants their other half paid. Try to look ahead so you will have the cash flow you need when all those payments go out at once. Roddy Tree Ranch requires the entire facility to be rented for a wedding. Remember that some of these costs can be absorbed by the guests that will be staying here. Although the wedding couple guarantees the initial fee, we will work with you to accept deposits and payments separately for each cabin if you wish.

Because you are having the wedding and reception in the same place you and your guests will be less rushed. It's more convenient and relaxing for everyone involved.

If you will use fresh flowers, try to choose varieties which will be in-season at the time of your wedding date. There might be arrangements on the altars, reception tables, etc. If you want to decorate these areas, consider using dried flowers and rustic yet elegant centerpieces. Many of the weddings at the ranch have had very unique simple and elegant centerpieces on the tables that are a great contrast to the rustic atmosphere of the place.

Providing entertainment or activities costs extra. If you want to keep the reception low-key, skip or at least limit music and dancing to the juke box. There are many local bands available for weddings in the area, including Keith's River Rats Band. that have a great sound and are great fun. One of the advantages of Roddy Tree Ranch is that you have a dance floor and stage already waiting for you. Keith can discuss any sound equipment needed with you.

Hiring professionals, of course, accounts for a great chunk of many wedding budgets and this is often money very well spent. We welcome professional wedding planners and part of our fee includes coordinating a minimum amount with them. We also have experience planning events and will be glad to coordinate the wedding for you. We have enjoyed a professional relationship with florists, caterers, photographers, videographers, musicians, and event planners for many years here in the Hill Country.

In conclusion don't let anyone intimidate you by making wedding planning seem more complicated than it is. A lot of the people who emphasize the stresses, costs, and frustrations of planning are either selling something, or they have been heavily influenced by those who are. We have seen lots of our couples plan wonderful weddings without suffering tremendous stress, without going into years of debt, without having horrible fights with their future spouses-- and without losing sight of the reason they are doing all of this in the first place. Bottom line, at Roddy Tree Ranch, Keith and I are committed to being there for you on your very special and unique day. We look forward to working with you.
